Police recorded 11,332 road collisions involving injury in Birmingham between 2021 and 2025, about 2,266 a year. 113 of them were fatal, and an estimated 2,029 involved serious injury once DfT's severity adjustment is applied. The busiest hour was 3pm to 4pm, and 31% of collisions happened between 3pm and 7pm (fewer than the 32% across Great Britain). Friday had the most collisions, and 27% happened at weekends.

Across Birmingham, 15,079 people were injured or killed in these collisions. Pedestrians were 20% of casualties (14% across Great Britain), pedal cyclists 7% (12%) and motorcyclists 5% (12%). Car and taxi occupants made up 64%. 46 of the pedestrians were killed.

Children aged 0 to 15 were 10% of casualties, higher than the 9% national share. People aged 16 to 25 were 23% (21% nationally), and people over 65 were 4% (10% nationally).
